In 36th match of IPL-9 2016 Kings XI Punjab defeated Delhi Daredevils by 9 runs. Batting first Punjab batted well as their openers put up a decent first wicket partnership of 45 runs. Then other 58 runs partnership for third wicket put them in command and they capitalized on it and went on to score 181 runs in their respective 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis scored 52 off 44 balls and Wridiman Saha made 52 runs off 33 balls in middle of the innings. Batting second Delhi started really well as their openers put up a stand of 70 runs in 8 overs. Then another 51 runs partnership for second position put them in a commanding position and they were likely to win the match but in the end some tight death bowling by Mohit Sharma and Snadeep Sharma pulled it back in Punjab’s way and they restrict Delhi to 172 9 runs short of the chase. Marcus Stoinis was named man of the match for his 52 runs in 44 balls in the start of Punjab’s innings. But it should be gone to their bowlers who bowled exceptionally well in the death where the likes of Carlos Braithwate were at the crease. Keep it up Mohit and Sandeep.
