Rising Pune Supergiants vs Gujarat Lions Match-25

In 25th match of Vivo IPL-9 2016 Gujarat Lions defeated Pune Supergiants by 3 wickets with last ball finish. Batting first Pune Supergiants didn’t start well and their opener Saurabh Tiwari was run out in third over by Suresh Raina. The score was 13 runs when he got out. Then came Steven Smith to bat who was determined to do well for his team. He started batted really freely and put up a 111 runs partnership with Ajinkya Rahane for second wicket. Rahane was out in 14th over when the total was 124 for Pune Supergiants. Then Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Steven Smith took over command and dictated the terms for Gujarat Bowlers. Smith got out in last over just after completing his hundred off 53 balls. Pune managed to score a total of 195 for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Batting second Gujarat got the start what they needed. Their openers put up a 93 runs opening stand in 8 overs and their hundred was raised in 9 overs. Then it was matter of time to win. But Pune made a comeback by picking up wickets at the end. Gujarat were 187for 5 at the end of 19th over. Then they lost two wickets in 20th over but eventually they played with Faulkner who proved to be too good for the situation and won the match for his team. It was again a narrow finish for Gujarat Lions but they won it and that is what matters. Dwayne Smith was named man of the match.
