In 16th match of Vivo IPL 2017 Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Lions by 6 wickets. Batting first Gujarat made 176 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs quota. Brendon McCullum scored 64 off 44 and Suresh Raina made 28 off 29 and they both put up an 80 runs stand for second wicket. In later part of the inning it was Dinesh Kartik’s show who scored 48 off 26 balls and take the team’s total to 176.
Batting second Mumbai lost their opener Parthiv Patel for a duck but then there was an 85 runs partnership between Jos Butler and Nitish Rana. Butler made 26 off 24 balls and Nitish Rana scored 53 off 36 balls. Then Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard made a 68 runs stand for 4th wicket and won the match for their team. Pollard made 39 off 23 and Rohit remained unbeaten on 40 off 29 balls.
Nitish Rana was named man of the match for his brilliant knock of 53 runs which came in just 36 balls. Congratulations to Mumbai Indians and Nitish Rana.
