In a classic clash for the place in finals, Royal
Challengers Banglore defeated Gujarat Lions by 4 wickets. Batting first Gujarat
didn’t start well and they lost their first three wickets for 9 runs in 3.4
overs. Then Dwayne smith and Dinesh Kartik came together. They both put up a
partnership of 85 runs for 4th wicket. Dinesh Kartik scored 26 runs
off 30 balls. But the show was belonged to Dwayne Smith who scored 73 runs off
41 balls and single handedly got his team to a respected total that they could
fight with. Gujarat set a total of 159
runs to chase for Banglore team. Looking at the form of Banglore’s team the
total was seemed to be smaller one. But batting second Banglore got the worst
start of the IPL. They were coming and going and no one was able to stay there
at the crease except AB DeVillers. Banglore lost their 5 wickets for 29 runs in
5.3 overs. Then they were reduced to 68-6 in 9.4 overs. Then came Iqbal Abdulla
who supported AB DeVilliers and scored 33 unbeaten runs off 25 balls but the
man of the moment was AB DeVelliers. He scored 79 runs off 47 balls and took
his team over the line in 18.2 overs. He was named man of the match for his
knock of 79 runs under pressure. It was a classic match and Gujarat had their
chances but AB had the luck of the day and he took match away from Gujarat. It
is right that AB is a IPL player and he fails at international level but rises
in IPL. No doubt he is one of the best but I am looking for his best
performances for South Africa as well. God Bless him.
