In 51st match of Vivo IPL 2016 Gujarat Lions has
beaten Kolkata Knight Riders by 6 wickets. Batting first Kolkata started
awfully and they lost their three wickets in 6.2 overs for 44 runs including
the wickets of top three batsmen of KKR. None of the KKR batsmen could stay at
the crease and they were spread just like a pack of card. Only Yusuf Pathan
showed some resistance and he scored 36 runs off 36 balls and KKR were
restricted to 124 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Dwayne Smith picked up
4 wickets and gave away just 8 runs in his 4 overs. Batting second Gujarat lost
their opener Dwayne Smith on the very first ball of second innings. Then they
lost lost Brendon McCullum in second over. The they lost Dinesh Kartik in 4th
over when their total score was 38 runs. Then Aaron Finch and Suresh Raina
steadied the boat and they put up a partnership of 59 runs for 4th
wicket. Aaron Finch scored 26 runs off 23 balls. Suresh Raina was unbeaten on 53
runs off 36 balls and they easily crossed over the line in 14th
over. The total was too low to defend but KKR showed some resistance in start
but then it was all in vain. Dwayne Smith was named man of the match for his
bowling figures of 4-8 in 4 overs.
