In a do or die 56th match of VIVO IPL 2016 Royal
Challengers Banglore defeated Delhi Daredevils and qualified for the Play Offs.
They won the match by 6 wickets. Batting first Delhi Daredevils didn’t bat
well. Quinton Dekock batted well for his 60 runs in 52 balls. Second best
contribution came from the bat of Chris Moris who scored 27 runs off 18 balls
in later part of Delhi innings. Yujvendra Chahal and Chris Gayle bowled well.
Chahal picked up 3 wickets and gave away 32 runs in his 4 overs and Chris Gayle
picked up 2 wickets and gave away 10 runs in his 2 overs. Batting second RCB
lost Chris Gayle and AB DeVilliers early and it looked that Delhi will make a
good came back in this match. But 66 runs partnership for the thisd wicket
between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul brought RCB back in the match. Lokesh Rahul
made 38 runs off 23 balls and Kohli remained unbeaten on 54 runs off 45 balls
and won the match for his team. With this win RCB ended up at second position in
the points table. Virat Kohli was named as man of the match for his sensible
knock of 54 runs in 45 balls. He played through the innings and that’s what made
the difference. Congratulations to RCB on this victory and hope they will win
this IPL.
