Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders

In fifth match of IPL 9 two of the best teams in IPL clashed and Mumbai proved to be the better one on that day. Kolkata lost Robin Utthapa early but Gambhir and Manish Pandey steadied the ship and also scored some quick runs. They were playing well and on the course of scoring 200 runs. But Mumbai Bowlers pulled it back by dismissing both of them. The scoring rate came down but the flourish of boundaries from the bat of Andre Russel brought KKR back in the match. He scored quick 36 of 17 balls. In the second innings Mumbai got a good start and their openers give them a 53 runs stand in just 5.4 overs before Parthiv Patel was dismissed. Then Rohit took charge and score freely. By the time they lost two more wickets and then came Josh Butler who scored quick 41 of 22 and made a partnership of 66 runs of 40 balls a match winning one with his captain Rohit Sharma who remained not out on 84 of 54 balls and emerged man of the match too. They finished the task in 19.1 where Pollard scored the last run of Piyush Chawla’s first ball of last over. It was entertaining but not thrilling of IPL level.
