In a thrilling match of VIVO IPL-9 between Rising Pune
Supergiants and Kings XI Punjab, RPS defeated Punjab by 4 wickets. Batting
first Punjab started well as their openers put up a 60 runs partnership for
first wicket. Hashim Amla scored 30 runs 27 balls and Murali Vijay scored 59
runs of 41 balls. Then it was Gurkeerat Singh Maan’s turn and he scored 50 runs
off 30 balls but in the end Pune tightened the screws and restrict Punjab to
172 runs. Once they were looking at 200 plus. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled well
and picked up 4 wickets in his 4 overs and gave away 34 runs. Batting second
Pune top order batsmen played well but in middle order some players played very
slow. Rahane made 19 off 15 and Usman Khwaja made 30 off 29. Punjab bowlers
contained them but in the end when it mattered the most Pune’s skipper, our
very own MSD arrived to the occasion and he scored 64 unbeaten runs on 32
balls. Pune needed two sixes on last two balls to win and guess what happened
MSD finished things in style by hitting two sixes in a row of Axar Patel to win
the match for his team. They are out of the playoffs but this victory still
helped them not to stay at the bottom of the table.
