In 43rd match of IPL-9 2016 Kings XI Punjab
defeated Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets. Batting first Mumbai off to a sad start
where they lost their two key players Unmukt Chand and Ambati Raydu for a duck
each. Punjab bowlers never let them play freely and they also kept loosing
wickets on regular basis. Some quick runs by Kieron Pollard, Karunal Pandya and
Harbhajan Singh helped Mumbai score a r total of 124 runs but that was too
modest to fight. Marcus Stoinis bowled well for Punjab as he picked up 4
wickets for 15 runs in his four overs. Batting second Punjab lost Hashim Amla
in very first over and Mumbai would have thought that they can make a comeback
in the match. But then Murali Vijay and Wridiman Saha played sensibly and put
up a 116 runs partnership for the second wicket. Chasing a total of 124 that
partnership proved to be a match winning one. Vijay scored 54 unbeaten off 52
balls and Saha made 56 off 40 balls. Marcus Stoinis was named as man of the
match for his bowling figures of 4-15 in 4 overs.
