Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab Match-32

In 32^nd match of Vivo IPL-9 2016 Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by 7 runs. Batting first KKR got to a flying start but the pitch was on slower side and some tight bowling by Punjab bowlers kept things quite throughout the innings. Robin Uthappa made 70 runs off 49 balls and Gautham Gambhir scored 54 runs off 45 balls and they both put up a partnership of 101 runs in 13.1 overs. It was then looking a 200 plus score but as the pitch played its parts and bowlers did great job to restrict Kolkata to 164-3 in their 20 overs. But the pitch was getting slow so total was a difficult one. Batting second Punjab got the worst start that they could get. They lost their first four wickets for 53 runs in 9 overs. Then David Miller and Maxwell put up a partnership of 67 runs for the fifth wicket and brought their team back in the match. Maxwell scored 68 runs off 42 balls. Once he was out it was matter of time. But Axar Patel had something else in his mind. But when it looked that Axar will take the match away from KKR the hero of first six overs come back with a throw to get rid of Axar Patel and Andre Russel won it for KKR. He was named man of the match for his 4-20 and his electrifying fielding.
